Services

You have a beautiful house and now it’s time to make it truly feel like home.  You’re always on the go and you want a space that feels like the perfect expression of you.  I’m Pamela Day, a San Diego based Interior Designer, and I specialize in designing homes for forward-looking clients who also hold nostalgia for the past, jet-setting creative types with an appreciation for world cultures as well as their current locale, and those who want a home that feels relaxed, layered, collected, and lived in, never “decorated.”  Basically, we design homes for interesting people that are interested in life!

Good design doesn’t happen overnight. Most of what you have may already go together, because it has a common theme of, “you love it!”  By pulling together all of your pieces, editing, updating and filling in the blanks, we can distill what, “you love it” really means, and fully form that vision into a cohesive design.

“Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”  – William Morris

New Build/Full Remodel Design

Turn-key service for new construction, full remodels, kitchen & bath remodels, home additions, outdoor rooms, indoor theatres, and closet expansions.  We make it our mission to seek out San Diego’s top builders, contractors, artisans and suppliers to bring you the most capable and skilled team for your project.

Producing quality work and a seamless design process for our project is our top priority. Through careful planning, design knowledge and skillful execution we craft, deliver and oversee the final project- a beautiful, functional space.

We start by visiting your home for a consultation and site assessment where we review your current plans or begin completely from scratch.  We are happy to work directly with your general contractor or suggest contractors that we have worked with in the past. Together we work hand in hand to help articulate the perfect plan for you!

We assess your needs and wants to determine the perfect layout, materials, finishes and overall solutions. You’re then presented with accurate 2D drawings, interior detailing, material selections, and optional 3D renderings to help you visualize your dream space. All the details will be spelled out and all site visits are included to assure your design is followed to those exact specifications.

Remodeling Kitchen & Bath Designer

The MVP’s in your house deserve the star treatment. Don’t just leave it to GC’s to make “builder basic” decisions or showrooms that offer “free design services” when you shop their limited selections. We create specific kitchen and bath solutions that are functional, unique and beautiful.

We offer several different packages ranging from complete Design & Layouts to Material Selection down to a simple Kitchen & Bath Styling session. We understand that renovating these hubs of the home can get expensive so if you are an avid DIY-er with solid ideas that you just need guidance on we can help you with that too!

The Finishing Touches

No more second guessing…are these the right pillows? Is this the correct size area rug? Do these colors work together? Is this artwork or chandelier hung at the correct height? What on Earth should we put on these bookshelves, or this mantel? We will take your existing furniture pieces, accessories, area rugs, lamps, decorative throw pillows art and décor and make magic happen through a bit of rearranging, editing and adding a few new home décor items to give your space a fresh and updated look.

Each new home décor item is hand selected by me to ensure that it fits your personal style and preference while working with existing pieces to create a unique curated look for you. No more spending hours shopping and returning a bunch of stuff or simply giving up, and just living with something that you don’t love (or even really like). I’ll take care of everything….sorting, sourcing, shopping, installing!

This service is designed for clients that have all their major upholstery and case goods, but feel they are missing the “Wow” factor. If your home feels void of personality or interest, or simply imparts a feeling of being blah! or incomplete I recommend this service! It is also a great opportunity to get your feet wet working with an interior designer.

A design consultation is necessary so that we can assess the room(s), take necessary measurements and photos, discuss your style and color preferences, budget, and more. We will also schedule our installation day so that you’re able to plan accordingly. Typically, it takes several days, to a couple of weeks (depending upon room size and number of rooms) to hunt and gather all the items needed to create your custom curated plan. Once everything is curated for your room, it’s time for installation day! Most one to two room projects are typically installed within 4-6 hours, depending upon size of room.

Staging

Staging your home for sale needn’t be a massive expense or undertaking. We can help you stage an occupied home, a home with existing furnishings, or furnishings you will purchase for future use. Accessories inventory is available, but furniture is not provided. We offer Staging Consultations (2 hours of action items for you) or complete Staging Services (with Accessories rentals). A complete staging will generally take one day depending on the size of your home.

Interested in having Pamela Day Designs magically transform your home for a quick and profitable sale?

We start by clearing the decks of clutter & de-personalizing as need (heavy decluttering, organizing and cleaning will result in additional fees). We re-arrange furniture pieces as necessary and style with decorative accents (yours and ours) and Voila- you’re ready!

Design Consultancy

Think you got some great ideas and just need someone to fully flush them out?  We offer services such as eDesign, Designer on Call, and Color Consultations for avid DIY-ers.  This service is for the budget conscious, savvy and stylish clients that just need to bounce their ideas of a professional.  Available in 5-hour incremental blocks.

The Process

After our first phone call I will forward the New Client Design Questionnaire to be completed by you.

INITIAL INTERVIEW:

This is the time to get to know each other and have a preliminary discussion about your needs. This portion will take approximately 20-30 minutes. If we decide to work together during the initial interview I will take photos and preliminary measurements.

NEW CLIENT:

At this time I will need a signed Interior Design Agreement, a signed FAQ’s & Policies, and the initial non-refundable advance. We’ll get into the nitty-gritty of what you need, what you want, and what you are looking to achieve in your space. I will obtain architectural plans of your space if available, take measurements, and a complete set of photos for my records.

DESIGN PHASE:

With the information gathered I’ll start to formulate a design plan keeping your budget in mind. This includes detailed conceptual interior drawings, or analysis of floor plans, shopping for finishes, pieces and options and for your home. I will contact vendors as necessary, to receive quotes. I will be collecting hard finishes, fabric samples and tear sheets. This phase takes approximately 3-6 weeks. At the end of this phase I will present my design plan to you.

ACQUISITION & CONSTRUCTION PHASE:

During this time, orders will be placed, stock will be checked and reserved, and items will start arriving in your storage. There will also be continued shopping and selection in this phase for secondary items like accessories, lamps, and smaller pieces. Anything that was not approved or selected in the Design Phase will be secured in this phase. This is the time that any construction or remodeling occurs and hard finishes will go in. Depending on the scope and scale of the project as well as if items are in stock and if decisions and payments were made quickly in this phase takes anywhere from 2 months to 2 years.

INSTALLATION PHASE:

Once everything arrives, it is time for installation. Any window coverings or lighting that was not installed in the previous phase will be installed at this time. The storage facility will bring all your items and staff from Pamela Day Designs will be on hand to place and style everything. Art will be hung, bookshelves styled, light bulbs installed. Final touches are made, additional items will be secured, and final photos will be taken. We like to stay until the last candle is lit and make sure that your space is perfect.
